Subscribe for Libertarian National Convention Photos
Okay, I have to explain myself a little, they're almost here!
Hey there friends!
A bunch of you are waiting for Libertarian National Convention photos. The short answer is they’re almost here - I am trying to finish them up, and I decided to send (the above) postcards to all delegates letting them know to come here to find them - the problem is Vistaprint told me they’d arrive for you between Dec 17-20th, and it’s Dec 10th! I’m not done yet!
The short of it is they should be done by next weekend at the latest, and you can subscribe to get an email when they’re posted! If you only came for the photos and don’t care about my blogging about numerous other topics (I have some good stuff about liberty philosophy coming up, including the text of my speech from this year at the conventions) you can always unsubscribe afterwards! It’s free to subscribe, just select the free option.
If you’d like a little background on the photo process and my year and links to my other albums in the meantime, read on. Plus a few sneak peeks.
I took just under 10,000 photos at the Libertarian National Convention over Memorial Day weekend this year. I started reducing and editing as soon as I got home, but in case you missed the news, my company launched our product in June, and I became overwhelmed with work!
July involved two conventions and a trade show and finishing an album from the previous year (Freedom Fest 2021), August was catching up on various work-related preparations (and my 10 year anniversary with Judd), September was two trade shows, October was my birthday month and several events, November was another two trade shows, and now here we are in December and I’m not done the photos.
I’m seriously sorry for the delay.
In case you aren’t familiar with my process - here’s a run through:
I go through my 10,000 photos using Adobe Lightroom, and rate acceptable ones with 1 stars, disqualifying duplicates, blurry shots, or unflattering photos. After I’ve clicked through every single one, I’ve now got about half of my previous photos that are “potentially in the album”.
Then I go through and start editing them - the editing process takes time, as I have to adjust colors based on the environment, increase brightness, contrast, check for cropping details, and ultimately decide if a picture is worth editing (otherwise I take away its star) - edited shots get rated “3 stars”. A lot of stuff gets culled during this stage because I’m actively engaged with the album and know the full context of it.
This is the stage that takes the longest - it’s the one I’m in.
Then after they’re all edited (at which point I’ve probably reduced my total to 1500), I go through and rate the best shots with 4 and 5 stars, and see if there’s any duplicates or less good photos that are bringing down my averages (if I took 6 different pictures of you and all were fine, but 2 were exceptionally better, I usually ditch the other 4 unless you specifically requested yourself in those outfits or environment).
This part is relatively quick, I often do it in 2 hours before I post the album.
I usually end up with approximately 10% of my original shots.
National Convention albums often end up being 2 albums.
A key factor: at the LP convention I took a LOT of individual headshots. It’s probably the largest number of individual people I’ve taken pictures of, so I don’t have as many duplicates to delete, and it’s taking SO long.
So that’s where I’m at. I promise you’ll have them by Christmas, and I’m aiming for the weekend of the 17th. If you subscribe, you’ll get my link to the album within 7 days, and soon after, I’ll be posting my speech from the conventions, and my holiday card letter, so I encourage you to stick around at least a couple of weeks for some good stuff.
Here are some of the other albums of LP conventions this year:

In the meantime, I’m thankful for your patience!
I’ll have these for you very soon. Thank you so much for your support, and joining me at the convention this year!
Just wondering if you will be going to anarcopulco?
